Depending on how you use the service, you may provide:

• Email address (for optional magic-link sign-in and account features)
• Product submissions, ingredient-label photos, nutrition-label photos, and related package context
• Corrections, feedback, ideas, and community reactions
• Support messages you send to us

Information collected automatically

When you use the service, we may collect technical and usage information such as:

• Device and browser information
• Approximate network information such as IP address (via hosting and security infrastructure)
• Usage events (for example scans, page views, and feature interactions)
• Referral or share attribution tokens
• An anonymous on-device identifier used for local history, XP, and similar client features

Authentication and email

If you sign in with an email magic link, we use your email to authenticate you and to send service messages you request or that are necessary for the account (for example sign-in links, submission or watch-related notices when those features are enabled).

We do not describe this policy as consent for unrelated marketing email campaigns unless and until such campaigns are separately offered with appropriate controls.

Product and label photos

Camera frames used only for on-device barcode detection are processed locally and are not uploaded unless you choose to submit a contribution.

When you upload product or label images, we may process them with automated systems (including AI) to extract product identity, ingredients, nutrition facts, and related label information.

Contribution photos are treated as evidence for verification and catalog quality. They are not automatically published as public product pack artwork.

Submissions may be reviewed by administrators, corrected, rejected, or combined with other sources before any public catalog use.

Automated and AI processing

We may use automated and AI systems to read labels, normalize ingredients, assist analysis and moderation, and help derive product information. Human review may also occur. We do not use these systems to infer sensitive medical diagnoses about you.

Product and catalog information

Product, ingredient, nutrition, and analysis information may combine proprietary processing with third-party materials and user submissions. We do not publicly disclose our upstream datasets, suppliers, or derivation pipelines.

Where third-party materials are used under license, those providers retain their rights. Our scores, rankings, and structured analyses remain our proprietary outputs.

Analytics and cookies

After you accept cookies, we may load Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic and product usage. Measurement is configured via the application environment.

How we share information

We use service providers to operate the product. Depending on configuration, that can include hosting and database providers, email delivery (for authentication and transactional mail), analytics, and AI processing providers.

Sale of personal information

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of exchanging personal data for money. We also do not sell ingredient-scan contents to advertising networks.

Retention

We retain information as reasonably needed to operate the service, maintain security and auditability, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Exact retention periods vary by data type and operational need.

On-device history may remain on your device until you clear site data or use available account controls.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and requests

Depending on features available to you, you may access account settings, sign out, or clear local browser/app storage.

Children

The service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
